Romance for my Beloved Jo

"Having recently reviewed a work by American guitarist/composer Philip Sills which relied mostly upon the rhythmic aspect of the writing, here now are two pieces by this talented writer which are crammed with lyricism. Romance for My Beloved Jo is a passionate and tender affair with a strong melody line and simple harmonisation. Lento Espressivo has a military bearing surrounding it and its robust march-like character contains, once again, a clearly defined melody. Suitable for the intermediate player, both pieces are worthy of consideration with perhaps the Romance having the most appeal. Apart from an unnecessary and redundant opening 'repeat' bar, all is well with regards to presentation and fingering."
