Les 100 de Roland Dyens - Canciõn de Cuna

This delightful little “Cradle song” is set in 3/4 in D major and consists of a direct and simple melody that is at first mainly a solo line but then gradually attains a few extra harmony notes and subtle subsidiary parts along the way, whilst still retaining its basic simplicity. There are many of Dyens' liner notes about what to do and not to do but they are only there to help you attain what the composer really wants, for he leaves nothing to chance, like so many other composers do. Again, this is a charming miniature; not very hard, movingly written and ideal for all manner of players; young or old, good, bad, or indifferent. Definitely one to look out for.
