Here is another of the 'l00'; namely a set of shortish pieces which are for the less advanced players. I have seen probably about a quarter of the full 100 so far and can vouch for their concise qualities and the fact that they are a lot easier than Dyens' normal concert works.
This one is based around a rocking syncopated open E that goes almost entirely through the piece, with the exception near the end when it changes for a few seconds into an F, only to revert back a few notes later. Around the E one finds a gentle long-breathed melody and a bass line. Nothing moves away from first position with the exception of the harmonic notes very close to the end.
It is a haunting little piece with only 27 bars to its name but perhaps in a small group of others from the same set, could prove to be entertaining to hear and a pleasant change from all the usual culprits one so often finds in guitar recitals.
