So it is with much pleasure and relief that I can state that this song by Charles Aznavour is a wonderful waltz that just asks to be arranged for guitar and here it is done by one of the guitar's most consistently melodic composers, Jean Marie Raymond. It is set in A minor and has some wonderful woops and glides as befits this style of waltz and gives the player plenty of opportunity to milk this slightly schmaltzy music for all its worth. As with all Raymond's work, it is extremely guitaristic, so much so that as I didn't know the work's origins, you could have passed this off as an original waltz by a French guitarist/composer and I would have been none the wiser. It is lots of fun, beautifully done and ideal for all sorts of gatherings and concerts, and is not too difficult, so most players of a modest ability will get much from this. Chris Dumigan
