Another pairing of tunes from this fine English composer; this time the opener is a waltz with an engaging lilt and once again with an unexpected turn in many of its harmonies and melodies so that it is not just another waltz with a bass note followed by to chords and a minimal tune on top; no, far from it. Set in A minor it immediately rushes off with a fine melody that ducks and weaves around the fingerboard, keeping the player on his toes throughout with its nicely thought out details and slightly unpredictable feel. Its companion Song of Dawn is again in three but more expressive and cantabile with a gradually increasing sense of excitement at its heart. It concludes as quietly as it begins. This is another nice pair of pieces from Lindsey-Clark; constantly entertaining and fabulous material for the player looking for something entirely melodic, yet a little off the wall too and of moderate difficulty only. Worth investigating.
