Craig Visser is a guitarist and composer based in Ottawa, Canada. As a guitarist, his interests stem from a variety of styles including jazz and classical, which in turn has presented an array of performance opportunities as a soloist, musician for theatrical productions, and as a member of small and large jazz ensembles. He has performed across Canada in such venues as the Al Green Theatre in Toronto, Aeolian Hall in London, York University’s Joseph Green Theatre and the Blue Bridge Music Festival in Newmarket.
Craig’s work as a composer has proven to be equally diverse. In addition to writing for the guitar and guitar ensemble, Craig has written for the string orchestra, chamber orchestra, and choir. Craig is a member of the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) and his music is published by Musique King Louis Music, Heron Creek Music, and Productions d’OZ.
Craig’s primary teachers have included internationally acclaimed guitarist/composers, Brian Katz and Patrick Roux, as well as composers Michael Cado and David Lidov. Craig holds a Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA, Composition) from York University and a Masters in Music (MMus, Guitar Performance) from the University of Ottawa.
