You are always assured of a pleasant melody and some nice, warming harmonies with this composer and this latest duo is absolutely no exception. It begins with a gentle rocking motif on guitar 2, topped by some harmonics, before a very immediate and hummable tune enters on guitar 1. The second part remains very much the accompaniment here, whilst the top art becomes more animated and leads directly to the middle section set in the tonic minor where the parts swap and guitar 2 gets the melody, which is in the form of a gentle waltz. Then a return to the opening idea brings the original idea back for one more time and the work ends on a chord of the relative minor. This is a beautiful piece of writing, none of it too difficult, providing certain dexterity required in the more animated parts of the first section are not beyond the player of guitar 1's part. So, in essence this is another winner for Raymond, and any players should be delighted with it, as would indeed be any audience. Chris Dumigan
