The transcription of Handel keyboard music for two guitars is a weIl established practice, and with sensible precautions should not pose significant problems. This edition however takes a rather relaxed view and cherry-picks movements from different places, so this «suite in D« is not one of the composer's compilation. The historical pros and cons to this need not detain us, and any professional duos taking this on should be able to handle them. The movements are organised exactly as a normal suite should be, a lively prelude moving onto an Allemande, a Courante, the weIl known Folias-derived Sarabande, and a Gigue-like final Allegro. Within the movements there is some swapping of roles between the two guitars, and since players will work from the weIl prepared parts rather than the score, this is to the good, since you cannot just swap lines on the repeat unless you have the score to play from.
A good edition for duos in the upper grades. Stephen Kenyan (Classical Guitar Magazine)
