The most famous folk figure in Irish musical history, the blind 17th century harpist, Turlough O'Carolan has probably never been more popular than over the last decade or so. His music has a special quality, which endears itself to the listeners, sometimes plaintive at other times very joyous. Here are eight unnamed pieces quite nicely arranged for guitar ensemble that illustrate these various moods. There are some really attractive melodies in this set and for any amateur quartets of intermediate ability looking for something a little different to add to their programme then this collection would fit the bill nicely. Presentation is excellent with separate parts for each player. (Steve Marsh, Classical Guitar Magazine, January 2002) <
