This is the Berceuse from the sixpart miniature masterpiece, Dolly, from the pen of one of France's most inspired composers. The beautiful lyricism in Berceuse shines out in this very good arrangement. Guitar 4 gets the accompaniment throughout shared first with guitar 3 whilst the other two players are performing one octave apart creating a sense of vastness in the music, until the change of key mid-way (from E major to C major) brings forth a duet between guitars 2 and 4. This is a very stylish arrangement for this ensemble of instruments and would suit any amateur quartet (or larger) of around the grades 4-5 standard. A full score and separate parts are included. (Steve Marsh, Classical Guitar, 12/2000)
