Here is another offering from the American guitarist/composer Philip Sills. The two I personally have come across recently were in the fashion of romantic waltzes; with Huaynos there is a distinct change of style with the music of Peru being the major influence behind the piece. So here is a composition of rhythmic vitality with yet again a strong melody line to latch onto. The music seems to embody elements from or inspired by the folk music style of Peru whilst maintaining a contemporary air, all skillfully done by Sills. The finished effect is of a very simple but not simplistic, entertaining piece of music. Ideal material for the Intermediate player looking for fresh material. Steve Marsh
