PAOLO ROSINI, born in Ferrara in 1967, graduated in guitar with full grades at the “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara under the guidance of Roberto Frosali. He attended masterclasses with Alfonso Borghese and Leo Brouwer.
He is an active concert performer as a soloist as well as a member of various ensembles.
He made tours in Germany, Austria, Chile, Spain and Croatia.
In 2003 he gave a concert in the presence of Nobel Prize Rita Levi Montalcini during a gala evening held in her honour.
His compositions have been performed on several occasions such as concerts, art exhibitions, theatrical pieces, the degree honoris causa to the outstanding musicologist Lewis Lockwood.
In 1994 he was awarded the 1st Prize at the National Competition for composers on Musical Didactis.
In 1996 some of his didactic works have been collected in the volume “The Guitar/A Method of playing and knowing it through history, musicians and music” (Supernova Edizioni).
In 1997 he has been engaged to compose a Stabat Mater for mezzosoprano and strings, which was performed in the Diözesanmuseum in Regensburg (Germany).
He wrote the soundtrack of three documentaries by director M. Manservigi (“Edith Stein: una vita per la verità” – 1998; “Zero e miseria” – 1999; “La Cattedrale di Ferrara” – 2001).
In 1999 he won the 3rd Prize in the International Competition for Composers “Paolo Barsacchi” in Viareggio (Italy).
In 2000 he realized the Basso Continuo in various Baroque compositions for mandolin, published by Ut Orpheus Editions.
In 2002 his Sonata for Mandolin and Guitar was awarded special prize by the “Sociedad Artìstica Riojana” on the occasion of International Festival “Plectro Rioja” in Logroño (Spain).
He composed three didactic operas (“Una Fiaba di Pollicino”, libretto by A. Zanella - premièred in 1997; “Un Armonico Fracasso, ossia Il Sogno di una Notte d’Estate” - First Performance in 2006 and “Il Mondo della Luna”, both on libretto by N.Badolato – First Performance in 2010) .
He works as a guitar teacher in the Scuole Medie ad Indirizzo Musicale (Italian Middle School – Musical Section) in Voghiera (Ferrara) and in the “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara, where in 2009 and 2010 he held masterclasses on guitar Praxis and Repertoire.
