Ernesto Quezada is professor of guitar at the Facultad de Artes of the University of Chile. He graduated in guitar performance at the University of Chile, and took up studies in lute and early music at the Schola Cantorum of Basilea, Switzerland where he studied with Hopkinson Smith. Professor Quezada gave solo recitals in Chile as well as in Europe, North and South America. He also was a member of various early music ensembles. In 1987 he recorded the album "El Laúd y la Guitarra Renacentista," (The Lute and the Renaissance Guitar) in which he interpreted English, French and Italian composers. Many of his students have won the most famous international guitar competitions. In recognition of over 30 years of outstanding pedagogic and academic achievements, Ernesto Quezada was officially honored in 2002 with the "Premio al mejor Docente" (Best Pedagogy Prize) given by the University of Chile. Additionally, in 2007 he was awarded the Medalla de la Musica (Medal of Music) by the Consejo Chileno de la Música (the Chilean Council of Music).
