McCANN Jesse

Jesse McCann is an award-winning guitarist based in Portland, Oregon. He has performed nationally and internationally as a soloist and as a member of the Oregon Guitar Quartet. In addition to eight critically acclaimed studio recordings with the quartet, he premiered guitar works by Bryan Johanson and Umberto Bombardelli.
A passionate teacher and mentor, he taught for over fifteen years and ran the Guitar Performance program at Portland State University from 2010 to 2022. He authored Classical Guitar Pedagogy: A manual for instruction of the guitar and the online course-book, Guitar History (2021, Kendall Hunt Publishing). In addition to his high level of musicianship and scholarship, he is known for his love of extreme athletic challenges, coffee and traveling to exotic locations.
