Being both a lutenist and guitarist, François Leclerc is regularly called upon to interpret the repertoire of early music. In his role as designer and producer of concert concepts and thematic recordings, he has continually found himself having to research, restore, and arrange music in order to elaborate previously unpublished repertoire. Among his various discs are: Le Dernier Chevalier, (The Last Knight) produced for the exhibition Imperial Austria: treasures of art, arms & armor on its visit to North America; Les Chemins du Moyen Âge (A Journey Through the Middle Ages), the official disc for the international exhibition Gratia Dei; L'Aventure en Nouvelle-France (Adventure in New France) by Ensemble Stadaconé. He was also invited by the Canadian Museum of Civilization to produce the sound track and associated disc for the exhibition Il était une fois en Amérique française (Once in French America). François Leclerc has given concerts in various regions of Canada as well as in Europe, not only as soloist but also as member of the Trio de guitares de Québec, the Ensemble Mozaïka - Guitares d'Orient et d'Occident -, and as musical director of Ensemble Stadaconé and Ensemble Terra Nova. In 1989 François Leclerc founded Via Musique, an organization dedicated to presenting concerts, lectures, and educative workshops. At the same time as giving performances (both on stage and for disc), he teaches in the Music Department at the Collège de Sainte-Foy, the École nationale de lutherie, and at Laval University.
