Jim Henriques is a multifaceted composer. Undergraduate study with Dennis Kam at the University of Miami and with John Boda at Florida State University gave James a wide pallete with which to work. His main focus was exploring new sounds and new technologies in writing for plays and musicals. Upon moving to Los Angeles he wrote the soundtracks for movies like "Missing Children" and "Venice Beach", and for plays like "Coyote" and "Cyberpunk Opera". Yet his writing is not confined to commercial music; James has written solo and ensemble pieces for classical guitar, as well as a myriad of string, percussion, woodwind and piano works. In 1994, he received his Masters Degree in Music Composition from California State University, Fullerton, having studied with Lloyd Rogers, and has since been involved with the classical guitar program under David Grimes there. James Henriques is also Department Chair of Physics and Astronomy at Cerritos College in Los Angeles.
