Born in Montevideo (Uruguay), Oscar Cacérès discovered the guitar at the age of 11. He was making so rapid progress that his teacher presents him, only 18 months after the beginning of his studies, to a recital. He starts his international career. In 1957, he has given the first South America performance of Rodrigo’s Concierto di Aranjuez. He is a world-famous interpreter of Villa-Lobos, playing his works all over the world, and creates his Concerto for guitar and orchestra in Rio de Janeiro. Since 1967, he is living in France. He participates at many festivals (Berlin, Coventry, Echternach, Strasbourg, Santander, Paris…). In 1972, he has created a class of guitar at the International Music University of Paris, and teaches at the International Music Festival of Annecy and at the International Lesson of Music interpretation of Gerona (Spain). With his qualities of pedagogue and his knowledge in the guitar repertory, he is frequently invited for master-classes in various countries. His engagement in the contemporary music lead him up to make several premieres. He have recording many CD with the following labels (Erato, Pavane, Adda, Mandala), from XVIe century to contemporary music.
