Brazilian classical guitarist Luciano Lima has performed both as a solo artist and chamber musician in Brazil, Canada, Italy, and the United States. He holds a doctoral degree (D.Mus) from Université de Montréal (Canada), an M.A. from McGill University (Canada) and a B.A. from Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná (Brazil). Luciano is also an arranger and a composer, writing mainly for the guitar, having his work published by Les Productions d’OZ.
As a researcher, Luciano Lima wrote his doctoral dissertation on the four concertos for solo guitar by Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali, having published essays and offered lectures in academic events. Giving continuity to the same line of research, he published a book on Gnattali’s works for guitar, Radamés Gnattali e o Violão de Concerto, a revision of his works for solo guitar based on the manuscripts (ed. UNESPAR). Luciano has also published the Guia Prático para Violão Solo with transcriptions for solo guitar of Villa-Lobos’ Guia Prático (ed. Academia Brasileira de Música), transcriptions of 16 pieces by Brazilian composer Cláudio Santoro for guitar (ed. Savart) and the book Ian Guest – Música para Violão (ed. Acervo Violão Brasileiro). He has taught at the Universidade Federal de Pelotas, at the Conservatório de MPB de Curitiba and also in music festivals such as Oficina de Música de Curitiba, Festival de Música de Londrina and Simpósio Acadêmico de Violão da Embap. Luciano Lima is currently a professor at UNESPAR Campus II and a faculty member of the Graduate Program in Music at UNESPAR, in Curitiba, Brazil.
