Marlène Demers-Lemay is a canadian classical guitar player native of Lotbinière (Quebec). Graduating from University of Ottawa in 2012, she consecutively completes a master’s degree in performance at Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Swizerland (2015), then a second master’s degree in performance at University Pablo de Olavide in Spain (2018), as well as a doctorate in performance at University of Montreal (2020). Marlène has been awarded several schorlarships and prizes, including a grant from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (2013) and a scholarship from Le Fonds Thérèse Le François et Jean-Paul Larue de l'Université de Montréal (2018).
After a first album (2011) presenting in premiere the works of 25 contemporary composers, her second album – Perfumes, at night – is released in 2020 thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Recorded by the spanish label Contrastes Records, it is dedicated to french music for solo guitar from the beginning of the 20th century.
