Sébastien Champagne possesses a master's degree in jazz piano performance, with distinction in the honor list of the Université Laval. He studied with pianists James Gelfand and Steve Amirault. He was also a trainee to the Music Academy of the Domain Forget where he studied with Lorraine Desmarais and Tiger Okoshi. Mr. Champagne is currently a jazz pianist accompanist at Université Laval and teaches jazz piano at Cégep de Ste-Foy.
For more than twenty years Sébastien Champagne has been an arranger and composer for various groups, which will lead him to play at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and to produce his first album of original compositions entitled Esquisse, released in 2010. In addition, he often acts as a soloist, accompanist, conductor or freelance musician in a multitude of musical projects in the style of jazz, pop, classical, rock, blues and folk. He has been musical director of several projects, including the show Showman with Martin Fontaine since 2005. In 2013, he was a keyboardist for pianist and composer Steve Barakatt during a series of shows in South Korea. He was also part of the show Elvis Experience presented at the Capitol of Quebec, at the Théatre St-Denis in Montreal and at the Palais des sports in Paris. In the summer of 2018, he was part of the orchestra of the musical Footloose presented at the Salle Albert-Rousseau. Finally, he is the music director for the company Bellita - spectacles sur mesures since 2015. He is now preparing for the release of his next album scheduled for 2021.
